11/50: Vision in White by Nora Roberts

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

From Amazon: Mackensie "Mac" Elliot loves capturing happy and playful moments with her camera, but her own life is all about work—until she meets English teacher Carter Maguire. He's escorting his bride-to-be sister to a meeting with the Vows team and recognizes Mac as the girl he crushed out on in high school. Funny sparks fly: he's a geeky guy who quotes Shakespeare, she's a trendy workaholic who loves shoes. He's crazy about her, which makes him verbally clumsy and, to Mac, charming, though she's saddled with a needy mother, an absent father and difficulties with both that make falling in love complicated.
Vision in White was a fun, smiling romace. It was my first Nora Roberts book and I really enjoyed it. Roberts has an amazing way of making her characters believable, even if they are typical for chick lit. I found myself saying things to the dash of my car during certain parts and getting strange looks from people in the cars around me. I also grinned like a fool in love for the most part and always left my car with a smile.

Mac was somewhat infuriating (as are most main characters in a chick novel) with her inability to love and see what was right in front of her. She was also real to me based on the past and upbringing she endured. Her best friends, Parker, Laurel and Emma were the perfect fit. They worked so well together and reminded me of my own group of friends from university. They were all so different, but got along better because of it.

Carter was such a sweetheart! He waited for Mac. He knew that she was like a deer and any sudden movement would make her run. I loved that about him. He was this quiet, understanding, great at listening guy that waited for her until she was ready. AAWWW!! Makes my heart melt! (and somewhat reminds me of my own man). He had such noble ways it was hard not to fall in love with the guy!

I'm in the midst of planning my own wedding, so reading about Vows and all the side stories of their work had me tearing up and getting more excited for my own wedding. Some of the horror stories of things that went wrong had me cringing, but thankful that those brides had the 4 ladies to look out for them. We have a day of coordinator so I feel as if I will have something similar to them and that makes me happy.

I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I believe I'll be ordering the set on mp3 for myself. The narrator was fantastic.
